use body classes (you can see them in the body tag with Firebug):

.home #container { background: url(...); }

This will only add the background image to the blog frontpage (go to the page to find what class to use).

Hello,
Probably I'm missing something...
Is there a way to add a background image to the page container (only to the home page though) I want the rest of the pages without a bg image.
My understanding is that there is only one #container
If yes how ?

Many thanks!

any containers can have background image. Use Firebug to find the containers. Here's how to add a background image to the page container:

thanks for your response. i wasn't clear enough i think..
i've taken some screenshots so you know what i mean..
basically, i'm trying this: http://waldnermusic.com/flash.png
to be looking like that: http://waldnermusic.com/wordpress.png

so the background image would need to be only within the container i think.

hopefully that's possible.
thanks,

yes, just use the body classes (different classes for every page. use Firebug to see what classes are available for the target page). Example:

.slug-about.page { background: url(...); }

I'm having a real hard time trying to figure this one out. I even asked my friend which is like a master at coding websites.. but said he never done multiple background images, so I'm hoping you can help me out here VFXDUDE.

I'm using the BFNAV child theme.

So basically I'm trying to have a image on top of the page and a image on the bottom as well. So far I am only able to get the top image to work.. but not the bottom.

So this is the working code for the top image:

body { background: #fff url(http://nerwinator.com/wp-content/themes/bfnav/images/texture7.jpg) repeat-x; }

I tried it this way to get the bottom image to show up and it just didn't work:

body {background: #fff url(http://nerwinator.com/wp-content/themes/bfnav/images/texture7.jpg) center top repeat-x, url(http://nerwinator.com/wp-content/themes/bfnav/images/texture7_bottom.jpg) center bottom repeat-x; }

so I'm not sure why it isn't working and hopefully you can help me out to get it to work, it would be greatly appreciated!

arothafel, this is not related to wp3.3 as far as I can see, it's working as it should. The theme settings styles overrides the default styles, and setting the font-weight to normal when using cufon for the navigaton. You can add this css to the bfBlank style.css to set it back to bold:

ul.navigation li a { font-weight: bold; }

Another tip is to enable the "Cache the settings stylesheet" theme setting (make sure it's written to the library/css folder. might have to make it writable).

Looks like W3 Total Cache plugin conflicts with the theme navigation text. When I activate the W3TC plugin, my navigation text (and dropdowns) go from bold to light (normal). When I deactivate W3TC everything returns to normal.

The site was running just fine before the upgrade to 3.3. I am using a child theme bf_blank.

Seem to have some background trouble, too.
I just have upgraded to wp 3.3. Usually I have a white background.

Now it's set to #EDEEEF.

I tried to play with the background setting tools in the backend. Nothing happend.
Then I tried my luck (it's luck not knowledge in my case ;-) with the style.css, does not work or precisely can not notice any changes...

Thanks for your help

c-r-u-x, I guess it's the same as here. The wp background image uploader is probably changed, and the background image must be added with css instead. You can just upload the image in the media library, and copy the image url and then add css like this in style.css:

body { background: #292929 url(http://www.mystite.com/bg.jpg) repeat; }

Seems like more people and themes have this problem ( http://wordpress.org/support/topic/background-image-wont-show-up-1 , http://wordpress.org/support/topic/background-image-doesnt-work-in-33 ).
