Hi!

I would like to have only one column of categories and/or archives months displayed in my sidebar. At the moment there are two columns. How could I accomplish that? (That is how I would like it to be: http://www.shangri.pl/category/przygotowania/ )

Hi there!

I just created a PAGE in the main navigation bar called ARCHIVES and it contains subpages for each category.
Why did I do that? Because I wanted to have the portfolio thumbnails view on each category.

The problem is that is easy to access to that view when clicking on the main menu page ARCHIVES and the subpages (e.g. rehabilitation) but when I click on a category from the category cloud on the footer or the category cumulus cloud widget on the sidebar, it goes to a default BLOG ARCHIVES page that doesn´t look as nice. Any way to redirect to the pages i created for each category when clicking on each category on the clouds?

Or, is there any way to create automatically these category archives with a portfolio thumbnails view?

thanks!

On my homepage I have a thumbnail gallery:

[bfthumbs category="home" showposts="15" width="160" height="100" numcols="4" marginright="20" text="false" title="true" cufon="true" numwords="1" meta="category"]

Looks cool, but:
The meta data now shows the date and comments.
Is it possible to only show all the categories of the post and leave the date and comments out?

Hello,

I am working on a site http://www.dionevanslive.com/ojb and there is a section that says blog topics at the bottom. I know the bfthumbs code, but it only pulls from one category. I want to be able to have a categories show up side by side and an associated image with the category it pulls. I also do not want that thumbnail to be 255 x 100 as the others are, I want it to be 100 x 100 for each 6 thumbnails side by side. Thank you!

Hello,
there's a way to move the posts' categories information below the post so before the post remains only the date and the author?
If I enable 'move post meta information below the post' in the misc section of the theme settings all the stuff move below, also the author and I need that it remains above, beside the date.
If you need the link of the website is http://www.sheiscreative.com.

Hey Vfxdude,

Thanks again for a super theme! I wonder if it's possible to do the following things:

1. Add a bfslider as a feature image using the post's gallery or nextgen.
2. Have meta for posts in certain categories and no meta in other (portfolio posts should be without date etc, only in blog)
3. Chose what meta to use in bfthumbs and move them after excerpt
4. Move the post meta above the post title
5. Excluding certain categories in the category listing widget

What I'm currently working on http://www.osbeck.tv/Butzi/

I have several posts under several categories. I would like to show one thumbnail per each of the categories (i.e.:5 categories, 5 thumbnails) and with the title of the category. Is that possible? If so, can I choose to show a specific image from any of the posts?

Is there a plugin or easy way to set up something like a search/refine by filter? I would love to set one up like Daily Candy has. I am a bit of a newbie, I did a lot of searching and could not find the answer I was looking for. If it is complex is there any specific documentation you would recommend to look at?

I am thinking it is something more complex but thought, it can't hurt to ask!
Thanks :)

Hi admin,

Is there a function similar to...

[ bfthumbs category="portfolio" numposts="3" ]

...that will allow me to display posts according to category but NOT in bfthumbs format. I have en Events page and when you click on it, I want it to only display posts in the Events category, but in a style exactly like the default layout view in http://www.vfxdude.com/bigfeature/.

Thanks for this excellent theme!

I've made several thumbnail galeries in one page:
[bfthumbs category="flowers" showposts="6" width="269" height="150" numcols="3" marginright="20"]
Below this comes another gallery in the same page:
[bfthumbs category="flowers" showposts="15" width="153" height="95" numcols="5" marginright="20"]

Looks very nice!

I want to make several pages like this with other subjects, like "plants", "pictures"

I have also added two other categories:
"important" and not "very-important".
I want the very "important" categories to be shown in the upper gallery, and the "important "below. These two categories refer not only to the categorie "flowers", but also to several others, like "plants", "pictures", "clothes"

If I add "important" and not "very-important" it does not work:
[bfthumbs category="flowers, very-important" showposts="6" width="269" height="150" numcols="3" marginright="20"]
[bfthumbs category="flowers, important" showposts="15" width="153" height="95" numcols="5" marginright="20"]

In the upper gallery it shows everything with "flowers" and everything that's "very-important", but I want only the "very-important" "flowers" to be shown.

So in short:
I want the thumbnails show not all posts with both categories, but only posts that have both categories marked
So not ANY but ALL categories should be valid.

Thank you all for helping me out.

I seem to have come across a bit of a bug. When I enable dropdown menus for Categories I seem to get doubles. All the categories are listed including the sub-categories in the initial list, however the sub-categories are also listed in the sub-list they're childed from.

Additionally is there a way to hide some categories from being displayed in this list? I fiddled with the Category Visibility plugin but it didn't seem to affect anything related to the navigation menus.

The only solution I've come up for this is to make pages for each category and sub-category, however then the main menu item also has to link somewhere, and I'd rather it just be a drop downlist, not a link as well.

Thanks

However, if you go back in and change ANYTHING else in the Theme Settings (a checkbox, value, etc.) those categories are removed from the nav bar and we have to go back in and drag them into place again.

Anyone else running into this? Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Jeff T.

could you give a further explanation on how to display only particular posts under portfolio section. I've downloaded the plugin but not sure what to do next.

I have a section in the nav bar, where i want to display only posts tagged with a particular category. How do i do that?

Thank you

I get a white screen for the rest of the site when I add categories to the nav. I don't have the categories as a dropdown and I've made sure there are posts assigned to each category. The header and the start of the navigation works but the categories just don't - they cause a PHP fatal error:

PHP Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /var/www/vhosts/SITE.com/subdomains/SITE2/httpdocs/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/functions/theme-functions.php on line 118

This is the code on line 118 in that file.
echo '<li class="'.(is_category($catID)?'current_page_item':'').($navItem==$last?' last':'').($navItem==$first?' first':'').'"><span class="navitem">'.$catName.'</span>';

No changes have been made - everything is still standard.

Anyone else had this? It was removing the categories by itself when I was putting them in, and since I installed simple:forum, it just gave up entirely so I can't have categories in the top menu.

Also, that's the only non-recommended plugin install - the other plugins in the site are all on the recommended-for-the-theme list.

I'd like to put my categories into the navigation rather than have the categories dropdown. Is there any way to do this?

I just can't seem to find it in the header.php and I'm not sure where to go from there!

Thanks.
