it's outputted by the comment_reply_link function in library/functions/comments.php. Since no text label is passed to the function it will use the default that is reply, but this label should be in the norwegian translation file though. So if you have installed the norwegian wordpress translation, then it should be translated. If it's still not, then I guess this is not added to the norwegian .po file. It is possible to manually pass a label to the function, by adding this line of code just before it:

<?php $args['reply_text'] = 'svar'; ?>

I have changed most of the template to norwegian in the comment.php file, but after one has commented and someone would like to reply to a comment there is one "Reply" button that I can´t seem to find and change. I have looked in all the .php files in theme editor and I can´t seem to find it anywhere. Someone who knows?

Thanks, I'll try your suggested solutions.

Considering your question #4:

I'm talking about the standard wordpress 'form' by which readers can react to posts (or blogs). The 'name', 'email', 'site' and 'send reaction' sections are translated, however, the 'required' notion isn't.

1. Twitter feed: Must be a plugin. not twitter feed comes with the theme or wp.

2. Date: I thought this was automatically localized, but after reading this article, the function used maybe has to be changed. Edit theme-functions.php (in library/functions under the theme folder).

Search for:
the_time($bf_date_format);

replace with:
echo date_i18n($bf_date_format,get_the_time('U'));

I have now changed this so it will be like that in the new version. Another solution is to change the dateformat in the theme settings to only numbers.

3. by author: This is also in the meta function in theme-function.php, and it is localized with the theme po file. Here's how to translate (save the translated po file to the theme folder).

4. reaction form: I don't know what a reaction form is. Are you talking about the contact form. That is handled by a plugin. Depends what plugin you are using. I reccomend to use the Contact Form 7 plugin.

5. popularity contest: This is outputted by the Popularity contest plugin.

It's the text

in the twitter feed which tells how long ago a tweet was tweeted e.g. '3 hours ago',
of the archive; the date behind the blog post is still in English 'January 5th, 2012',
which tells which author wrote an article, beneath the header 'by Author',
in the reaction form says 'naam required' (the text is partly Dutch and partly English). I searched through the settings but could not find a place to adjust it,
of the title of 'popularity contest'.

Thanks for your reply.

Fyi (and those with similar problems): I've been working out the problem a bit more and it seems it is two sided:

1. There seem to be two different locations for the .po files. I placed mine in the wrong folder. After placing it in the correct folder, most of the text was translated correctly in Dutch. However, not all of it.

2. After some digging, we figured out that probably some text is 'hardwired' in the mysql database and cannot be overwritten by the .po files. I'm currently communicating with my webhost whether it is possible to solve this problem easily.

Do you have any suggestions for step #2?

Kind regards,

I'd like to translate my website to Dutch. So I followed all the insturctions for a nl_NL.mo files, uploaded them to /wp-content/languages, adjusted define ('WPLANG', ''); and saved the whole stuff.

Then, the whole interface of the control panel is in Dutch but only a part of the website is in Dutch. Some text, like 'category' is translated in Dutch, but some text, like 'leave a comment' at the comment section, isn't translated.

I checked the nl_NL.po file whether 'leave a comment' and other text was translated properly, it was. Then I generated a new nl_NL.mo file from that .po file and uploaded it again, changed define ('WPLANG', '');. But, unfortunately, no result.

I also adjusted the text in the comment-template and uploaded it to the correct file. Again, no effect.

Do you have any suggestions of what I could do to fix the problem?

Kind regards,

1. I guess this is added by the plugin, because it's not part of the theme. You can remove stuff with css (check for classes in Firebug):

.single .classname { display:none; }

2. Add the css selector for the element in the "Cufon targets" field in the theme settings. The text is "Leave a Reply" and it can be targeted like this:
.respond h4
, but if it's another text you are referring too use Firebug to find the target.

3. It should be cufon if you have selected the checkbox for the "Article Heading & H1" (the targeting is
.post.single h1
). If it doesn't then there is a problem with cufon, does it work at all? it needs the wp_footer hook (in footer.php) to work (so does most scripts coming with the theme).

Hello !

When activating the disqus plugin,
the phrase "add a comment" appears on a dashed line, and without cufon;
Same thing for the sentence "showing x new coments".

QuestionS:

1-How do I get rid of that dash line underneath the comments sentence instructions

2-How to add cufon on the comment instruction sentence (independently of the disqus plugin, the "leave a comment" sentence always appear without cufon).

3-Cufon issues:
This cufon issue is also problematic for the H1 format inside the post text;
H1 inside the post text dont get 'cufonized' even if I include it as a cufon target inside the theme settings.

Thanks for your great support !

this is thumb posts (enabled with the "Show older posts on the blog frontpage as thumbnail posts" setting), and then it's a different setting. Uncheck the "Show Meta info for Thumbnail posts" setting under the "Thumbnail Posts" section.

Btw, you can also use bfthumbs for the blog frontpage with the new shortcode template system and then you can easily add, remove and modify any parts of the thumb post.

this function is called in comments.php (in the root of the theme) with this call:

wp_list_comments('type=comment&callback=custom_comment');

the custom_comment can be changed to something else and then copy the function into the child theme and rename it to whatever is called there.

Hi vfxdude,

I was wondering if you could show us how to add an additional input field for the comments.

Right now, the standard (for users who aren't logged in), fields are "name," "email," "website," then "comment text box." I wanted to add a "subject" or "title" field. Would love to know if this is possible. Thanks!

Hi vfxdude,

I wanted to change the comments functionality, so that only the date (not the time anymore) should be shown. This is defined in library -> functions -> comments.php.

Usually this should be possible via the functions.php of my child theme, but unfortunately it wasn't, as the "if (!function_exists(custom_comment))" is missing at the beginning of this function in the comments.php.

Could you add that in an update of the theme? Or is there another way to remove the time in comments?

Thanks,
Thomas

the comments form disappear as it should, but not the comments, and therefore comments are not allowed anymore. This is the same way Twenty Ten works. You need to delete the comments for the specific post to also remove the comments.

If you want to add comments a page add this code just before the endwhile (in page.php):

<?php comments_template(); ?>
