only the default page template add the title of the page as a heading. For the rest you add a heading manually, by adding something like this into the page editor (html view):

<h1>My Page heading</h1>

Hello,

I have some pages that do not have titles displayed and some that do. The site I am working on is http://www.dionevanslive.com/ojb. If you check the pages there you will see that no page titles are showing up within the page. Thanks!

1. I insert and check it to be default and I don't have any duplicate images. And yes I watched your video, but the problem with that method of inserting default images is that I can't see that image when editing the page/post. So I prefer to insert the image and set it to default. Haven't had any problems so far using this method.

2. And I still don't understand the the featured image. Thanks for trying though. Maybe part of the problem is that I'm not using your big feature page settings section. Instead, I'm using the default image options that ship with Wordpress such as "set featured image" and the image insert buttons at the top in the writing window.

1. you don't insert it into the editor, just save (watch the video tutorial). It doesn't get default when inserted. I should have removed this option, because it's outdated, but keep it because many used it early on. I recommend to use the "Set featured image" functionality instead. It's much better since it can be exported/imported and images can be added from the media library. External images can be added to the "Image URL" field below the editor. You don't have to insert the image when using the "Use First Attached Image as default" setting either. If you do you will have duplicate images.

2. Wasn't the long explanation in the previous post sufficient? did you read it? Use the "Set featured image" functionality.

3. You can have only 1 default image, but it can be resized in 1000's of sizes depending on where it's shown (bfthumbs, thumbnail page template, and frontage of the blog (also archive and search). It uses timthumb to resize. You can add a seperate image for the thumbnails though, in the "Thumbnail image URL" input field below the editor.

Thanks for your help. There are a few things that are not clear.

1. The default image can be inserted into the post. There is a "yes / no" option when inserting an image. And you also have a setting labeled, "Use First Attached Image as default."

2. How exactly would you set a default image on a post/page without inserting it into the post?

3. Can there be more than 1 default image for a post/page? And if so, how does this affect bfthumbs?

A default image is an image tied to the post, but not inserted into the editor. Here are the 4 ways of adding a default image. The default image can be used in all page templates and some shortcodes like bfthumbs and the sliders.

Take for example the portfolio page template, images will automatically be shown with the right layout and size. The default images resize depending on where they are displayed, this doesn't happen for images inserted into the post.

This resizing is especially important when it comes to thumbnail posts (bfthumbs, thumbnail page template, and frontage of the blog (also archive and search), featured widget and related posts) since they can be sized in very many sizes to fit different designs.

The "Set featured image" functionality is just one of the ways of adding a default post image, but there is a featured size image in the blog and single view pages. The featured size image is a container width that spans over the sidebar. The first post on the blog frontpage can be a featured sized image, and also all default images on the single post view page. The image must be at least the container width (page width. 848px by default) to be shown like that, if the width is below that it will be shown in the content area above the title (it can be set in the theme seeings to be below the title too). If the image width is below the content width (528px by default) it will be only used for thumbnail posts.

If you want a different look to the blog frontpage, it can be designed with the bfthumbs shortcode like this.

You can also insert the post preview image into the post instead of using default images. For it to be dispayed on the blog frontpage use this technique. If you still want to use thumbnail posts (bfthumbs, slider etc.) you can add the image url to the "Thumbnail image URL" input field below the editor.

I'm not understanding this image problem because if I put a bfthumb shortcode and a bf featured post widget on the same page, the default image shows for the featured post and no image shows for the bfthumb. A quick rundown of image types might be helpful along with what bfthumb and bf featured post are looking for.

I guess I was wrong. A default image spans over the sidebar as well. A more thorough explanation of the deafault image vs. featured image would be helpful! I can't find this information anywhere and I'm not sure what illusio means when he says you can use featured images on multiple posts.

Hi,

I was wondering how I can make it so the default image for each post shows up in my RSS feed? Everything works and looks great on the site, but the default image does not show up within the post in the RSS feed. If I make the default image be included in the actual post it works fine, but then I can't utilize the default image capabilities (automatic timthumb thumbnails, etc.).

I also tried changing the theme settings to "Use First Attached Image as default" but I can't figure out how to make that work. When I tried that setting, it was showing two of the same image - the default one and the one within the post.

Thanks.

The easiest way is to insert the image into the post and add thumb images to the "Thumbnail image URL" input field below the editor. You can change the the code to move the image down, but that will affect the thumb posts too though, and the feature images will always be on top anyway since they span over the sidebar (must be at least container width to be used as a feature image). Here's more info on default images.

Hello,

I just purchased your awesome theme. Now I was wondering: I would prefer to have the default image underneath the post title, not above.
By default the blog posts are structured like this:

default image

post title

meta

post text

just tested the live writer, and there is a way to add a default image. You can enable the "Use First Attached Image as default" theme setting, and insert a full size image into the post in live writer and publish, and then delete the image and re publish. Then the image will be still attached to the post and will be used as default image.

For the iphone, can't you remove the image like in live writer?

Just tested this method with live writer and thumbnail post images was created. Not sure why it did not happen for you.

I want to post to my blog from MS Live Writer, Wordpress for iPhone and via e-mail. The problem is I also want to be able to get the same layout as when I post from inside Wordpress; default image above the meta and text, the image I use as default NOT repeated in the blog post, and also a thumb generated to use on the frontpage.

Is this possible? When I use Wordpress from iPhone the image is inserted at the end of the post with no possibility to change that. I check, in the settings, "Use First Attached Image as default", I get the default image, but the image is also repeated at the end of the blog post. No thumbnail is generated for the frontpage. Same problem applies when I use Live Writer.

Is there a way to set the default image and create a thumbnail when I post from outside Wordpress?
