I know this almost defeats the object of the big feature theme, but I don't want a feature image in my blog posts.

But I do want to use the feature image (which I've set as automatically the first image in the post) for the thumbnails.

And I would like it to show the same feature image above the "limited" text for the frontpage post.

I thought it might be something I can do by editing the blogposts.php - but will this remove it from the frontpage post as well?

Sorry if this is sounding naive but...

Hi there,
I've been searching a lot through the forum and I couldn't find a solution for my problem. I'm unable to set a feature image fixed on the blog frontpage. I've marked the Feature Image, Uploaded an image and marked the Default Image checkbox, I've tried everything i can see in the tutorial videos, but I get nothing at the end.

Is it possible to add a feature image on the frontpage not associated to any post? I mean a kind of logo for my blog?? just like the dandelion image on your preview.

Thanks for your help.

I have a feature image on my frontpage that is a sticky post with a feature image. However, when I goto my second page, the same feature image and sticky post is shown at the top again. Is this the way it should be?

I'd like the sticky feature image and post to stay at the top of the frontpage (aka home page) only, but then when you goto the next page of blog posts, I do not want the sticky post to be at the top.

I've been working with your Big Feature theme for sometime now with WordPress (version 3.0) and 'Feature Image' works fine. However, I've setup another blog on another server, (installing WP Version 3.0.4) and cannot get the Feature Image to work. I've checked forums about paths and timthumb issues but still no FI.

I've some problem with vertical photos setted as Feature Images. While the horizonal images work correctly (so it doesn't seams to be a timthumb problem), vertical images are not showing at all at the top of the post. The resolution of the vertical images when cropped in Wordpress are 512x768.
What could be the problem and how to resolve it?

I just bought the Big Feature template. I installed it and the feature image is not working. I tried all the trouble shooting steps. This is the broken link:

http://erinscottphotography.com/blogsite/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/timthumb/timthumb.php?src=/blogsite/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_8043.jpg&w=848&zc=1&zcp=topleft

Nothing is returned. However, if you add a h parameter for height, it works:

http://erinscottphotography.com/blogsite/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/timthumb/timthumb.php?src=/blogsite/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/DSC_8043.jpg&w=848&zc=1&zcp=topleft&h=500

It is obvious that the wrong version of timthumb is being used. The source of timthumb.php included in bigfeature.zip does not have any way to handle the parameter "zcp=topleft". This is some type of mod to timthumb that has not been included in the file. The write version of the file has been provided at some time because it works on other sites:

http://chilicheesefries.net/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/timthumb/timthumb.php?src=/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/GAZPACHO.jpg&w=848&zc=1&zcp=topleft

Please provide me with the right version of timthumb.php or tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Hi,

I think, there seems to be a bug concerning the upload of a "feature image" in a multiblog system of Wordpress 3.0:

My bigfeature-blog is a second blog "under" the main blog and its called "atelier" with the blogID "6".

In this "sub-blog" I upload within a new post the feature image like this:

Then opens a window, where I upload the feature image:

Pay attention to the path of the image!

In the frontend of the bigfeature blog there is NO feature image!

When I analyse it with firebug, then the source code of this post is like this:

That means, that in the source code of the post in the browser Firefox, the path of the image is

src="blogs.dir/6/files/2010/03/mikroheader11.jpg"
- causing that no image is shown in the frontend

but it should be in the frontend a path like the image of the upload shows:

src="http://birgit-heinz.de/atelier/files/2010/03/mikroheader11.jpg"

Even if I add the complete URL in the BF post settings in a post, it does not show the big feature image of this post.

In this example "6" is the ID of the blog "atelier" when you look at the FTP or when you look in the dashboard of the super admin.

What can I do, so that the path of the uploaded feature image is interpreted right, that means not "blogs.dir/6/files/2010/03/mikroheader11.jpg" but right: "http://birgit-heinz.de/atelier/files/2010/03/mikroheader11.jpg"?

By the way:
I use BFNav 1.0.1 and Big Feature 1.3.5.2

See the problem here:
http://tinyurl.com/363f8la
Above the big heading "MIKRO KUNST" should be over the whole width of the site the big feature image.

Thanks a lot.

Hey Vfxdude,

Thanks again for a super theme! I wonder if it's possible to do the following things:

1. Add a bfslider as a feature image using the post's gallery or nextgen.
2. Have meta for posts in certain categories and no meta in other (portfolio posts should be without date etc, only in blog)
3. Chose what meta to use in bfthumbs and move them after excerpt
4. Move the post meta above the post title
5. Excluding certain categories in the category listing widget

What I'm currently working on http://www.osbeck.tv/Butzi/

Oh, one more thing:

I'd very much like the feature image to NOT show up on the homepage. Yes, I've clicked the "Disable the feature image on the frontpage" box in the settings. That got rid of the feature image once but then it came right back. I've tried to unclick, save, reclick and then save again, but it isn't going away.

Is there something else I must do to remove the feature image from the homepage? Or can I make the change manually?

I'm using BFWide 1.0.2

http://www.overdose.am/2010/05/05/test-post-2-video/

Do you have any advice on how to fix this?

Thanks, Rob

The featured image functionality for blog posts and pages "breaks" (on front page and on single post and page views) when you set the container width to greater than the default 848px wide. This happens even when the featured image width is exactly the same as the container width.

Also, there doesn't seem to be a setting for changing the height of the slider when the width of the container is increased beyond 848px.

#1 How do I "fix" the featured image so that the theme accommodates a featured image greater than 848px, which is the default. (I would like to create a site w/ a container of 960px).

#2 How do I adjust the slider height to accommodate images with a height greater than 348px. (i.e. an image that was 960px by 394px, which is the same width/height ratio as 848px X 348px that is the default)?

Please help.

[edited to reflect that it's thumbnail images I'm having trouble with, not Featured images]

I'm displaying three most recent posts on the front page but they continue to show empty rectangular boxes above the title as though there's an empty image placeholder there.

There are no default images for the blog posts (we may get to that later, client's not ready to "get" that yet) but the dang empty boxes still show on the front page. (I've left the "add borders to default images" setting turned on as it makes it easy to see that's it's an image placeholder that's creating the blank space above the blog post titles)

I've searched through the forum & haven't found any mention of this elsewhere.

The site is cochranemusic.ca

So what do I do to get rid of the blank boxes? Am I missing a setting for disabling thumbnail images?

Paul

PS Loving the theme - just getting my head around all its features.

Is there a way to have a feature image shared on parent and child pages? Right now, I'm hard-coding the images. Any other suggestions appreciated.

I'm editing BigFeature to quite an extent for my own site. With it I need to edit the featured image quite a bit to make it look like this - http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/1802/bigfeature.jpg

So the featured image would actually be the background of a div with a pixel border and the article to have date and title but no article text.

However, I can't make head nor tale of the code in both the index.php file and theme-options.php - could someone please help me to understand what the code actually means, if possible? Thanks.

I have enabled the "Enable the Feature Image for posts" and disabled "Enable thumbnails posts for the blog".

I would like to show the big feature images of a post only then, when reading this special post.

But when I click on "Blog", I would like to show only the small version of the post's image, not the big feature image, that goes over 2 columns.

In the left column of the blog's page should be one after another the posts with their images, and on the right side of the blog's page the sidebar and its widgets.

Should look like your example here:

http://www.vfxdude.com/bigfeature/category/documentation/

But is it possible to have the big feature image in the post (over the whole width of the page), but at the blog page this image should only be as wide as the text (-column)?

Thanks.
