this post was caught in the spam filter. That happens sometimes, but not as much as before. The spam filter seems to be learning.

Anyway, over to answering the question...

if I understand this correctly, you want to remove the side paddings in the header? then adding this to the bottom of bfnav style.css would fix that:

#headerstuff { padding: 0; }
ul.navigation.navbar { margin-left: 50px; width: auto; border: 0; }

btw, I see that you have some javascript errors, stopping any scripts from working. It seems to be caused by the "slick social share buttons" plugin. Deactivate it and scripts will probably work again (there is also a facebook error, but I think it's caused by the first error).

Hello,
I'm using BFNav child theme and It's really working great, but I'm trying to resize the main nav with the header image to fit the mini nav that comes with BFNav

you can see it here http://www.keygraphy.com

I just wanted to cancel the white space on the left if it's possible, thanks.

The images uploaded with the logo uploader or with wordpress does not get converted. If you upload png, it will be png, and the size is not reduced either. I think I know what's going on here though, you probably uploaded a jpg version first and then a a png version. The logo uploader can have many uploaded images, but you have to go to the gallery tab to change the order of them for the right one to be used. The one with order 1 gets used (you can drag and drop to change the order).

I have uploaded a crisp png into the header via the "add logo" under theme settings. Only the logo gets converted into a jpeg and compressed to almost 1/10th the file size. As such it no longer looks crisp and almost has vaguely blurry edges.

Is there a way in WP or BigFeature to adjust this conversion/compression to maintain a higher quality image?

(blurry image here) http://www.bloggingbash.com

Any tips or suggestions are very welcome. Thanks so much!

you can create a page and with this code added to the content (html view):

<div id="headerimage"></div>
<script>jQuery(function($){
var images = ['image1.jpg', 'image2.jpg', 'image3.jpg', 'image4.jpg', 'image5.jpg'];
$('<img src="images/' + images[Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length)] + '">').appendTo('#headerimage');
});</script>

and add the page with the bf page widget to the "Adspace - top of the page", or add it to specific pages if you don't want this everywhere. You need to modify the image names above and also the path to image (images/ (this can be a full url)).

I want random images in the header.
The images can be in a folder/directory but they need to be loaded random, so a different image on every page.
Is this possible within BigFeature or do I have to use a plugin?
In the last case, which plugin should I use?

I've been trying this for days and cannot get it working.
Thanks for helping me out.

these are css margins that can be nulled out.

.widgetspace-top.mb20, .widgetspace-top img.aligncenter, ul.navigation { margin:0; }

Use Firebug to find these yourself.

You got some code tags wrapping some of the slider text. this could be added by the visal editor, check the it with the html editor.

Yes I'm clueless - please be patient :)

I'm working on a new header image (currently set up as a page then published through the adspace widget) and there is a ton of white space between the image and the menu bar. How can I adjust this?

Also while things look great in firefox and safari, the text in the home page slider is intermittently (some are find some aren't) showing as a different font when viewed in Chrome on a mac (don't own a PC so can't confirm if its OS specific).

Any advice would be warmly appreciated - thanks!

Hello, I am working on a site http://www.dionevanslive.com/ojb. I have bfthumbs on the frontpage calling for pages and they work fine. However, I had an issue that when I went to the page there was no title, it only showed below the thumbnail. You gave me the solution to enter the HTML code for each page as <h1>Page Title<h1> so the title would be listed at the top of the page. That worked, however, when I do that it shows a bold title and smaller non bold title at the bottom of the thumbnail. I only want to show the bold title there, but still have the title at the top of my page when I get there. Thank you!

You can add it with the logo uploader in the theme settings (the "click here to upload" button with a "Upload a Logo" label to the left. also enable the logo feature checkbox at the top for it to show). The image will automatically link to the home page. It can be the page container width (848px by default). Add this css to remove the margins though:

Please excuse my newbie questions but:
What would be the width of a full-page header image? I'm assuming its 848px - is that correct?

create a new page template, and customize it to look the way you want. this will not be for the whole blog though, since only header.php and footer.php remains the same for the whole website. I recommend to use a child theme for this. page templates can be just copied in and changed.

Hi,

Attached is the design for my site's home page.

http://69.89.31.149/~twentywo/twentywo_beta/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/TW_Site_home.jpg

I would like to know how to create this using your Big Feature template.

Specifically:

1. Slider above title

2. HTML links in title area

3. Slider below nav bar

4. First column extends to nav bar as shown.

5. Second and third columns under the slider.

6. Repeating background pattern on left and right margins.

7. Repeating pattern in content background.

you can start by disabling "Show the Sitename" in the theme settings, since it creates some space between the logo image and the navigation. If you want to remove the top margin of the navigation add this css to the bottom of style.css (or preferably in a child theme):

ul.navigation { margin-top: 0; }

to remove the header bottom margin add this:

#header { margin-bottom: 0; }

also add this for you logo image:

#logo { margin: 0; }

btw you can use Firebug to figure out these things...

Can someone tell me how I can get rid of the extra white space between the header and the navigation bar, and the navigation bar and the content on my site? I'm so lost. Thank you! :)

I have added H2 elements to the header via the functions.php file. How do I ensure that cufon replaces them as well?

Thanks. The next obvious question is...when can we expect to see the new child theme? :)

you can use the bfWide child theme as a starting point. I'm planning to create a new child theme that looks very much like that though. I will add body classes so it will be easier to change the design with css, but for now you can add includes in the php (in the customHeader function). Get the location with conditional tags. Example:

if( is_frontpage() ) include( STYLESHEETPATH . '/fpbanner.php' );

I need to create a home page with a full width header, as well as inner pages with a smaller, different full width header. I've seen this done with custom body classes in other wordpress themes. Please help.

Here is an example of what I'm trying to achieve...

Homepage with full-width header:
http://north.bensaunders.com/

Inner Pages with different, page-specific full width headers (smaller):
http://north.bensaunders.com/about/

http://north.bensaunders.com/journal/

achieve an effect similar to this
