ok, so it's for a static page and not the the blog index (important detail). Here's how:

1. create the page and select the "no sidebar" page template.
2. Click in the editor where you want the image, then upload an image (or choose one from the media library) and in the uploader specify a url and insert the image into the page editor.

Hi vfx, thanks so much for your help. I've tried it 4 different ways. If I do the feature image, it's not clickable. If I insert the image into the HTML the ABOUT US in the sidebar reduces the image, even though it's clickable. I did the default image, but it was not clickable. And I also did the widget "Blog home below Nav" with the BF Page containing a inserted jpeg into the html, is that right?. The home page I'm working on is NO PARENT and default. template.

Can you tell me the easiest way to have a clickable banner with the ABOUT US in the sidebar?

first it's important to understand it's not a separate feature image, but it's attached to the first post shown on the blog index, and the same feature image is shown on every single post view. If you want a post independent feature image (or slider) on the blog index, check the "Disable the feature image on the frontpage" in the theme settings and add it like explained here (a link can be added with the image).

To any who can help:

If I have a simple hyperlink in a post, it shows up just fine when I'm viewing that single post page by itself. However, when I view the blog page, or a home page set to display latest posts, all hyperlinks seem to be removed/deactivated (the text still is there, though). As soon as I switch the theme back to the default WordPress theme, any hyperlinks will show up in a view of latest posts. When I switch back to BigFeature, they disappear. Is this a bug?

Is there a reason that with the BigFeature theme you need to click through to the individual post page in order to see hyperlinks? I didn't see a theme setting for this, but maybe I missed something.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi,

I just have upgraded to BF 1.4.0.4 (using BFnav 1.0.5 and WP 3.1.3 as multiblog with domainmapping). I have deleted the old theme files and replaced them with the new downloaded.

All fine, but when I click at the RSS icon at the top right of the starting page, than this does not work as in the old version, I get the error

Warning: require_once(/xxxxx/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/library/functions/theme-settings.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /xxxxx/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/functions.php on line 11

In theme settings is my feedburner name as it worked fine in older version.

I saw, that theme-settings.php does not exist in library/functions/ folder anymore ...

What's going wrong?

Thanks.

the function used is wp_list_bookmarks and it takes an orderby parameter, but code must be modified. Edit theme-functions.php (in library/functions), search for wp_list_bookmarks, and add an orderby parameter. Example:
wp_list_bookmarks('orderby=notes,name&category...

This way you can sort with the notes area (just add numbers or letters). I added this to the theme now, because it's a good idea to be able to sort.

Hi,

I'm trying to tweak my top nav menu and have run into a problem. I have a link category on the menu, with all the links in that category being in the dropdown box. At the moment these links are listed alphabetically. Is there a way to change this, such that they are ordered by link id or anything else? I tried to look within the stylesheet but I can't see anything that I can clearly identify which would help me. I don't want to have to number the links just to get them in the correct order. Many thanks!

Having a strange issue on a site I'm developing with the button shortcode. While writing the post I had previously used a "#" as a placeholder for the link, but once I updated this link, it keeps the "#" that I originally used, even after clearing the cache in the browser. Furthermore, any other button I create using the button shortcode on any other page takes "#" as a link no matter what.

Here's a spot where I'm testing this on my big theme install: http://www.queenofthesun.com/2010/11/test-page/
