use the cwidth class. check the mentioned child themes for an example, they got a customHeader function doing this.

Hi,

I would like to stretch my navigation bar to the full width of a page. I also want the content of the navigation bar to start at the same position of the other content of the page (i.e. that there is some white space left and right to the content of my page). It would look like this: http://consumpsy.nl/

I've been adjusting the navigation parameters in the stylesheet and searching the web for two hours, unfortunately it didn't work out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Joren

Hello and thanks. For the navbar I've used the bfarea child theme and moved it to the top in the themes functions.php, and of course combined it with some custom CSS.

use one of the child themes (bfwide or bfarea) and modify the css. With the child themes you can create custom header functions and add searchfield or whatever. This requires some php knowledge though (just checkout the functions.php of the child themes available).

you have to look in functions.php of the BFNav child theme (look at the topNav function). You need to remove the navigation hook and create a a custom header function for the navigation (in the functions.php of the BFBlank child theme). Here's example code:

add_action( 'wp_head', 'remove_navigation' );
add_action( 'bf_header', 'custom_navigation', 100 );

function remove_navigation() {
	remove_action( 'bf_header', 'bf_navigation' );
}

function custom_navigation() { ?>

<?php
	bf_navigation("topnav","navsmall"); ?>

<?php get_search_form(); ?>

<?php
}

and some styles are needed for the navigation and to float the search to the right (check the #searchcontainer styles in bfNav).

Hi!

On http://www.capeinsights.com I first used the BFNav child theme, which had the search bar within the nav bar. My client wanted a different look, though, so I switched to the main BigFeature theme, using BFBlank for modifications.

My client likes the look of the 'NavBar' navigation, but still wants the search bar - so I tried to figure out how to place it inside the nav bar section (rather than in the header space using settings) as it is in BF Blank - but I can't quite work it out (hope I'm not missing something obvious)

Really appreciate your help, as always!

Hi there,

I would like to remove the usual horizontal navigation bar, and add a vertical navigation menu instead.

I already managed to add the vertical navigation by using the tipp from the tipps and tricks section.
But the horizontal navigation is still shown, even though I unchecked the setting "Show the navigation".

To be a bit more specific. I'm using the bfArea child theme today. As it is the topheader-div sits above the navbar-div like this:

Content

I just simply want these two to switch places like this:

Content

you can add the bfnav shortcode to the "Adspace - top of the page" widget area. Create a page add the shortcode and use the BF Page widget to add it to the widget area. Alternatively you can add the function call in header.php.

If you are talking about moving it outside the page container, you have to do that with a custom header function in a child theme (check bfNav/bfArea for example of that).

call the navigation like this (the first parameter is the name of the navigation and the second is the css class):

bf_navigation("bottomnav","bottomnav");

if using the wp3 menu admin use this instead:

bf_navigation("bottomnav","bottomnav","wp3");

and style it like this:

ul.navigation.bottomnav {}

I have a question about the header.

I want to create a a double nav bar similar to that of http://www.gq.com. (one main nav bar and one secondary nav bar).

I am changing the code to create 2 different styles for the two navigation bars, but the second row (secondary nav bar) keeps reverting back to the style of the first one.

So basically, The bottom nav bar keeps using the styles from the top Nav bar. How do I create a second bottom nav bar similar to gq.com?

How can I make them two different styles?

Thanks so much
