Well after messing around with the settings of the WP PageNavi.. I seemed to of fixed it for right now. Not sure why its doing this on my end, but maybe it is a bug in their code.

What is the bug here? how was it before?

when do you get this? with the normal blog/archive/search or with the bfthumbs shortcode. I upgraded, but can't see this, but I don't have so many posts either. I suspect this is a plugin bug though. You can use the WP Page Numbers plugin instead.

Thanks again

The plugin got a function with a same name as the theme, get_image, that's what causes the problem. This happens when forgetting to prefix the function name with the theme/plugin name.

I searched the plugin for this function, and it doesn't seem to be called. So the function name can just be renamed (in plugins/magic-fields/get-custom.php line 335). I renamed it to mf_get_image and the plugin activates without any problems.

I looked at the plugin, and it needs the the_excerpt function to work. this can be modified quite easily though. Here's how:

Add this code to the top of bf_excerpt function (in library/functions/theme-functions.php):

if (is_home() || is_archive() || is_search()) { the_excerpt(); return true; }

This will make use of the the_excerpt on the blog frontpage, archive and search.

or you can change the templates where you want this plugin to work for though. Like change the
bf_excerpts(false,$bf_normalpost_numwords,$postType);
to
the_excerpt();
in Archive.php (and also search.php and index.php if you want it on the frontpage of the blog too).

I aim to finish the new version of the theme by the end of this month.

Evening chaps,

First of all, big kudos to vfxdude for creating such as a superb theme - it's easily the best I have used for WordPress. Money well spent.

I am, however, experiencing a little trouble in getting the following plugin to work correctly with WordPress. Thumbnail For Excerpts (link) is a cool little plugin which uses any image within your post as a small thumbnail on your homepage, within an excerpt.

The plugin has worked with many other themes, but I just cannot get it to work with BigFeature.

Would anyone be able to help me with this? If there is no way for it to work, I'd be interested in an alternative!

Many thanks kind Sirs.

I haven't had much time to work on it lately. I will probably release a bugfix release in some days, since that's pretty much what I have finished, and also the gui for the shortcodes.

I have a little issue with the PageNavi. If you go to the BigFeature example site and look at the pagenavi on the bottom, it looks good. However, on my site, it doesn't look like that at all. There's no bottom border and I can't figure it out to get it like the one on the example pages.

I have also checked out other people who also have this theme and their's looks just like the example page, why am I the only one? haha

i've installed Facebook Comments plugin on BF and it works on Safari and Google Chrome but doesn't work on Firefox.
i've email the plugin developer and he looked into my site..
he said that it looks like the script (all.js) is loaded on the page twice. he said it must be an issue with my theme..
i cannot remember putting the script anywhere manually though..
do you know how could i sort it out?

1. I will redesign the meta area for version 1.4.1, and will add integration for the like button. Can't see any documentation for SFC on how to this, so I probably have to dive into the code.

2. Will check it out.

Function calls can be added to the meta function in theme-functions.php to add plugin functionality, but I will make it easier to add stuff to the post meta in version 1.4.1.

Simple Facebook Connect is great, thanks for that. Few questions though.
1. How do I use the facebook like button from the SFC rather than the share button you have already established. I know you had said it didn't look good (which can be fixed by making the meta area a little larger) but the Share button from the front page of the blog only shares the blog address and not the article itself.

2. Is there any way to do the same integration for SFC for Simple Twitter Connect? Same plugin Author and functionality as the Facebook plugin but for twitter. If anything can you tell me how to go about adding it myself so the twitter comments show like the facebook comments do?
