It doesn't work for me. I've tried it on a couple sites, but here is one example. In the All-in-one seo pack, I set the title tag (at the top of the browser window) to read "Binding Buzz" . . . but it still shows "Buzz | BindingGuy.com". It changes the meta description, but it won't accept my title or label entries.

So I am scratching my head here because I have done everything I know to get the taglines I created to work.
Settings> General (did not work)

I have tried disabling dynamic SEO with no luck. I re-enabled and was seeing it work properly on google chrome but when I go to post for example in facebook as an attached link I still get "just another wordpress". I tried adding different plugins for taglines to override the issue with no luck. I checked the stylesheet but there is nothing to change beside the description code.

I wouldn't start "no-indexing" pages if they already are indexed and you are getting traffic to those pages.

Google likes Wordpress and is pretty good at figuring that stuff out so I would leave it be.

I use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/robots-meta/ to no index login pages, categories, archives and tags. I set up my site like that from the beginning though.

Another question: what do you guys think is the best things to index and noindex:

categories
tags
archives
login/admin pages

everyone says something different.

And I'm transferring from blogger, which didnt have categories, but did have tags, and archives. which i never "no-indexed" if I want my site to go nearly unchanged and keep its google ranking, do you think i should no index archives or index archives?

(my website is 1 month past due on the launch, b/c of my immense paranoia on the loosing google rankings, since im ranked very very high in my niche. so let me know what you guys with all this index noindex stuff)

are you saying it's not indexed by google? make sure you don't have a noindex meta tag, or robots.txt file. search like this "site:mysite.com" to see how much is indexed.

I'm already using Robots Meta, AIOSP and Google XML Sitemaps for a new version of the website. After a week it doesn't have too many pages in Google- just 2-3 new and 20 old from a previous version of the website.

1.How long does it take to change in SERPs?
2.Does anybody knows/used attracta.com? Can it be usd together with XML Sitemaps?

does setting the seo page titles change the url of your article/post?

Because I already have my url's set canonically already. And it seems like just installing/enabling or setting up some of the features on the all-in-one seo pack will override some my current settings. Will it?

I'm regularly use a combination of the All In One SEO Pack, Redirection, Simple 301 Redirects, Google XML Sitemaps, Meta Tag Manager, and GZippy plugins.

I use All In One SEO to set the description, keywords, and page titles on the home page only. This way, it allows the BF theme to dynamically create keywords on each of the pages. Be sure to add Tags to each of your posts to improve keyword density - those are pulled in as well from the content. Meta Tag Manger works well when you need to meta tags for Google, Yahoo, and Bing's site verification. And it's independent from other plugins.

I've never had performance issues with installing multiple plugins on the BigFeature theme. So that could be an unrelated issue with your domain hosting. In that case, install GZippy and it'll help speed things up. Be sure to temporarily disable GZippy when upgrading plugins. Once they're installed, activate it again. It's a little buggy. Hope that helps.

So, I'm approaching the final steps of finishing my website for its relaunch (switching from blogger to self-hosted wordpress). And I'm a little overwhelmed and perplexed about all the SEO stuff.

To be honest, I've done very well with SEO as far as using blogger goes, but I know that because I am relaunching the site on a different platform that it's important to do all I can to save my site from loosing any juice and dropping in page rank.

So with that said, I know that there is a built in SEO pack, but I've searched the net for the past days and read several articles about the best SEO packs for wordpress. And on average people point you to these:

1. All in SEO Pack (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/)
2. Robots Meta (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/robots-meta/)
3. Headspace 2 (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/headspace2/screenshots/)
(and WP Seo Sniper (but it cost $100, so we won't include that))

Then they also recommend stuff like Redirection and Yeast Crumbbreads (or whatever its called), but those I already had installed.

Okay, so my question is what effect will activating all three plugins have on the Big Feature theme? Will it slow it down? Can it cancel each other out? How much is too much...

And has anyone had great success with using any of these or was only using the built-in SEO tools the best option?

Thanks so much in advanced!

PS- I'm also curious to know which SEO plugin would override the others? For example the All in One SEO Pack has some of the same features as the built in SEO functions, so if I set both of their lets say "meta tag keyords" which meta keywords would be the one google and other search engines would use? What would be the effects of having them both set?

Hi,

I use Bigfeature 1.3.5.2 with the childtheme BFNAv 1.0.2.

I have now added in the theme settings -> general the "blog meta description" and keywords:

and for sure, saved it :-)

But when I look in the source code of my site, I don't see a meta tag for this description or keywords:

my site: http://tinyurl.com/3a5qh3a

Any idea, what has went wrong?
Thanks.

I'm not talking about the deafult page template, but the default blog template (index.php). To use that one instead set the "settings - reading - Posts page" to that page you are now using for the blog posts (static page must be enabled). The deafult blog will show all categories though. There's no difference in the design of the blog posts page template and the default blog.

You find the theme-functions.php in the library/functions folder (as I wrote). If you need a coder, hire one.

Here is what I'm trying to achieve:

H1 tag for my sitename on:
-site homepage ("no sidebar" template) - static Wordpress page
-blog frontpage ("blog posts" template) - static Wordpress page

*These are the only two pages I want the H1 tag to be my sitename

H1 tag for my post title on single article view

H1 tag for my page title for all individual pages, except for my site homepage and blog frontpage

Thanks very much, I appreciate it!

What is the difference between "Default Template" and "Blog Posts" template?

When I change to the "Default Template" for my blog frontpage, it messes up my layout...however, it does finally add H1 tags...but it is H1 for the word "Blog" (still no H1 tags for my sitename, even though I have enabled "Show the sitename" under Theme Settings).

I only see Theme Functions (functions.php) but no theme-functions.php. There is no h2 class nor the line are telling me to delete. Where are this located?

Here is a picture of the code:

you are using the blog posts page template instead of the normal blog and the sitename is h2 for all pages, since separate headings can be added (should only be one H1). If you want to change it you can do so in theme-functions.php (in library/functions). Search for "h2 class" and remove the "|| is_page()" on the line above. This sets the sitename to H1 on all pages, but not on the single article view.

True, I understand that hidden things to "cheat" might not be the best way to go.

However, even if I "show the sitename" in theme settings, it still does not put it in H1 tags for me on my site homepage. (It does not give H1 tags for my blog frontpage either).

You can view the source code of my site here:
http://theinternetmarketingtools.com/ (that's my site homepage)
http://theinternetmarketingtools.com/blog/ (my blog frontpage)

I've "showed the sitename" as you can see this time, but still no H1 tags for either page.

And as far as the blog frontpage goes for SEO...well, you can SEO any page for any keyword. So while people may discover the relevant articles with long saturated keywords, it will probably be the single post view for those articles that are SEO-d for those keywords.

But if I also want my blog frontpage to be SEO-d for a particular keyword, it helps to have that keyword in H1 tags on the blog frontpage.

I would like both my site homepage and my blog homepage to have H1 tags for my site name.

Can you show me how to do that? Thanks!
