vfxdude on "Bfthumslides Bullets"

there is no bullets by default with the bfslider, only numbers. It's possible to convert the numbers to bullets with css image replacement (in a child theme. use firebug to find the styles to override).

Another solution is to use the new awshowcase shortcode, since it already got bullets built in, and I also implemented a thumbslider for it. The solution is implemented a bit differently though, instead of adding the bfthumbs shortcode inside the slider shortcode it is added in a shortcode template (enable the "custom template feature" and there will be a templates custom post type). In this example:

[awshowcase sid="awshowcase-thumb" type="thumb" name="aws-thumb" width="718" height="170" bgcolor="#fff" thumbsperslide="4" transition="hslide" buttons="true" btn_numbers="false"]

the type is set to thumb, and the name is the title of the template (where the bfthumbs shortode is added). Set buttons="true" and btn_numbers="false" to show the bullets. All the awshowcase parameters are shown in the shortcode GUI.

Hello again,

I am using the bf thumbslides to display latest features like so:

[bfslider name="thumbslides" type="thumb" height="250" auto="true" pause="10000"][bfthumbs category="mycategories" numposts="1" width="260" height="210" numcols="1" marginright="15" text="false" title="false" caption="frame-css3"][/bfslider]

But, I would like to display bullets (like the ones used for nivoslider) so readers can skip features. What is the best way to do this? Thanks!!

Thanks. When I reduce the height to 400 it cuts off the bottom of the photo. I included the marginbottom but it doesn't appear to have done anything.

Reduce the height parameter of your slider to 400 and also add this parameter marginbottom="0".

The rest is changed with css. And Firebug is the tool to use to find what to change, but if you don't have any knowledge of css it might be a bit harder. Anyway the style to add (at the bottom of style.css (preferably in a child theme)):

There are 3 sliders available as shortcodes with this theme (no plugin needed), watch this video and read this article for more info about the bfslider. You can check out the shortcode examples here, for the other sliders. The images can be fetched from several locations, like posts, pages, nextgen gallery or flickr.

To add a shortcode to the top of the blog frontpage:
1. Create a page with the shortcode.
2. Add it to the "Adspace - blog home below nav" widget area with the BF Page widget.

To add it to a static frontpage just add the shortcode into the page editor (html mode) wherever you want it located. It is recomended to use the shortcode GUI for an overview of the available parameters.

See that's the problem. When the bfslider shortcode is in the content.. the footer & content goes away. When the bfslider shortcode is gone.. the footer & all the content comes back. <?php wp_footer(); ?> is already in the footer.php.

I'll leave the site without the bfslider shortcode now.. maybe you'll see something different. Sorry for the trouble, but a hasty solution would do me great. Thanks again!

checking your code, and you don't have a footer on that page, and that is probably the cause of this. If you have removed the footer.php or the wp_footer hook in it, then the slider will not work.

This line needs to be in footer.php for the slider and several other stuff to work:

<?php wp_footer(); ?>

Ok.

Yeah it looks like bfslider is broken. With your last advice, the shortcode is..

[bfslider name="slidetest" type="category" buttons="false" type="page" width="645" animation="fade" height="400"]

Before that it was..

[bfslider name="slides" buttons="false" type="page" width="645" animation="fade" height="400"]

Let me know if you find a fix. Thanks again.

can I see the shortcode you are using? You can set the type to category and add category in the name parameter to see if the slider is working.

Example:

[bfslider sid="slidertest" type="category" name="design" width="500" height="300"]

Hi,

I'm working on a site at the moment, and I'm using the bfslider on the home page. The problem is, that recently, bfslider decided to stop working. Now when the shortcoade is clearly inputted into the html content, it just nullifies or doesn't show the content. When I take out the bfslider shortcode, however, the content is fine.. but then I have no bfslider.

Once again the url is here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Nephilim :) My custom.css-file is a bit messed up with stuff I am or have been testing, so I advice you to use FireFox in conjunction with Firebug, as this is way better to get a good overlook over the CSS-formating of my page.

As for the php, I've only altered the functions.php-file in the bfarea child theme by moving the navbar to the top of the page.

If you've got some specific questions about my page I will answear to the best of my ability.

Regards.
