You can add a video url or iframe embed code into the video input field instead of the proplayer code (and in version 1.4.1.1 the preview images is automatically fetched for youtube and vimeo videos without needing proplayer).

yes I saw that, it's strange that it's removed, because it's still working as far as I have tested. The project was maybe shut down after I requested html5 functionality :)

Anyway you can download the plugin here.

Probably have to integrate another player plugin now then, open for suggestions.

btw, iframe embed code (html5 compatible) can be added to the video field.

Hello,
I'm showing a short version of a blogpost from a specific category with a bfthums code:

[bfthumbs category="Blog" width="570" height="150" numcols="1" marginright="20" text="true" title="true" cufon="true" numwords="300" meta="true" showposts="5"]

I would like the vimeo video from that post to be seen and working on the blogpage in the short version of the blogpost, this does work with youtube, but vimeo won't show. I tried it with proplayer and several other players, but nothing works, it's mostly showing the video url, but not the whole video.
Any ideas what to do to make it function like described?
Thanks in advance!

why did you need to change it? did you have plugin stuff added in the video area like maartenkeizer? the only thing it does is remove the the_content filter on the video output. All child themes will inherit this since it's relying on the parent theme (no need for any changes in the child theme).

ok...this is caused by using the content filter on the oembed videos. I solved it. Here's a quickfix:

1. Edit theme-functions.php (in library/functions).
2. Search for this line: "
$video = apply_filters( 'the_content',$video);
".
3. Replace it with this:

$wp_embed = new WP_Embed();
$video = $wp_embed->run_shortcode($video);

I download and enable a social media bookmarking plugin to get the tweet,like, and digg kind of links at the bottom of my post. But I have posts with a vimeo video in it.

The problem is this: If I have a post with a featured video the social media icons from the plugin will also appear under the video.

It seems as if the video outputs a post end? So I get: from top to bottom: Video -> Social MEdia Icons -> Post -> Social media icons again.

Is there a way to use plugins like that without the double icons?

the only problem is that the proplayer (JW Player) is flash, and I don't know if the play button also triggers a javascript event. you have to research a bit about that...

I guess what I meant by "It doesn't seem to work" is that the click on the pro player flash movie slide (the first slide) doesn't pause the slider (in Chrome and IE) -- the other browsers I've tested do pause it (Safari and Firefox). hmmm.

Cool. So far I've had some success with that, but some browsers don't seem to work. It works on Safari (Mac) Firefox (Mac & Windows), but doesn't work on Chrome (Mac & Windows) and IE8 (Windows).

Here's where I added that code to the init area:

// init
var timeout;
if(options.auto){;
timeout = setTimeout(function(){
animate("next",false);
},options.pause);
};

 // start pause when clicked on slide
$(this).click(function(){ clearTimeout(timeout); });
// end pause when clicked on slide

 if(options.numeric) setCurrent(0);

 if(!options.continuous && options.controlsFade){
$("a","#"+options.prevId).hide();
$("a","#"+options.firstId).hide();
};

Anyone have any ideas why it seems to work differently in IE/Chrome than in Firefox/Safari?

The site I'm developing lives here - http://www.queenofthesun.com/index.php (you do have to make sure the url is 'index.php' as the html file takes precedence if you don't)

Any comments, suggestions are very appreciated.

will stop the slider if it's clicked.

Thanks! I imagined that it would not be exactly easy, but this would be a great way to dive into some javascript and learn a bit more.

Another idea for this kind of functionality perhaps would be to trigger the video in a lightbox, and position it directly above the slider- so even if it is flipping the images in the background, the lightbox would cover it. Seems like that would be a kludge-y way to do it, thought.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, I really appreciate it, and am going to wind up purchasing the theme for other sites once I really learn the ins and outs.

you have to edit the custom-easyslider1.7.js then. Create a function for stopping and a click event for the play button. The stop function would then clear the animation timer like this:
clearTimeout(timeout);

the only problem is that the proplayer (JW Player) is flash, and I don't know if the play button also triggers a javascript event. you have to research a bit about that...

Howdy,

First, I love the theme! Getting down to business, I'm wondering if anyone out there has done this:

Put a proplayer video in a BF slider with auto="true" (so it automatically moves), but found a way to have the slider pause after the slide's video has been clicked and started to play.

You can see what I'm doing here: http://dev.queenofthesun.com/

The video trailer is the first slide in the link above, so if someone manages to click the play button, the slide will eventually flip while the video plays. It would be lovely if there was some way to pass a message from the video to the BF_Slider to pause. Looks like if you press the back button on the slider then the slider is put in a paused state, so perhaps it's possible to do this if the video starts..

Anyone ever done this or would know where to start with the javascript? Seems like this could be a pretty cool bit of functionality.

- Barry

did you remove the max-width css? last line of optionstylesgen.php (the one with max-width). and also remove it from style.css if you added max width there. A bugfix release will be added today though...
