The feature image will be shown over the sidebar when it's at least the container width (860px in your case). The thumbnails below the first post can be turned off with the "Show older posts on the blog frontpage as thumbnail posts" setting (it is off by default). The featured posts width can be set in the widget. </p> <p>Category Visibility can be used to hide posts from the blog, when used in a page template.
