oh you are running version 1.3.4.2 of the theme, did not realize that, it has not been made compatible with WP3.0.

Thanks - sorry should have explained....I upgraded to 1.3.5.2 and hit problems. As an attempt to fix it I dropped back to 1.3.4.2 which fixed some things.

I'll u/g to 1.3.5.2 when I get a moment and fire fight from there.

Thanks for the CSS tip - I'll use that as a short term fix then I can work from a test server. "Some browsers" is better then "no browsers" ;)

oh you are running version 1.3.4.2 of the theme, did not realize that, it has not been made compatible with WP3.0. I recommend to upgrade to version 1.3.5.2 (latest version), then I think your problems will go away.

btw, you can add this css to the bottom of style.css to constrain large images to content area:

#content img { max-width: 100%; }

It will not not proportionally resize them right it all browsers though, and that's why I added a script for it...

I should take $100 for every support inquiry.

Absolutely.

If you want to sell the theme on that basis then do it. Some of the support you've given would be worth that money and I can imagine big corporations lapping it up (there's a distinct lack of WP themes with pro level support i.e. monitored SLA style with escalation, guarantees and penalties).

Since I'm not a coder (I gave that up a few years ago) I'd happily consider a paid for support model. Especially since my options now are
1. spend a lot of time looking for the issue wherever it lurks - by definition it will take me longer to find it than an experienced coder whose familiar with the code
2. "heal" the site so that it works with the code as it is now. This could take a long time and would mean that I would never want to upgrade again.
3. Go get another website. Again a ton of work plus some money. With no guarantee that I wouldn't hit the same issues.

So joking apart if you want to charge for support (and accept all that that would imply) then I'll be happy to talk.

But back when I managed test projects the rule was simple. If the system worked, and you changed "x" piece of code and the system stopped working then it was down to the developer of "x" to make sure it wasn't their code. Because really and truly it almost always was.

--------
As an aside "somebody" needs to fix the ridiculous plugin conflict thing. I'm only guessing but if the WP core developers issued a proper set of standards and nothing was allowed in the codex that didn't comply then these conflicts would be over tomorrow.

there's a javascript error from you thickbox plugin that can be the cause, but if you deactivated all plugins and no change, but I suggest you try again, and clear the browser cache.

It's a javascript error that is causing this, and don't be so quick to blame it on the theme, plugins must be made compatible with new wordpress versions too. I have tested 1.3.5.2 with wordpress 3.0 and it works fine for me.

At least 50% of the support I have been doing the last year is caused by plugins, and it sucks to waste my time on such matters! I should take $100 for every support inquiry.

OK - I just deactivated every single plugin.

Didn't fix it. I guess it must be something else.

1. It worked before the upgrade. Yes I can spend a long time trying each of the plugins (though mostly I have the ones you advise) but that's risky on a live site. And what do I do then?

2. Um great. I bought your skin because it had image resizing so I could migrate an existing site to it. All of a sudden it's stopped working properly (I can't stress enough that it worked, I applied your upgrade and it stopped working) and now I need to do some random testing of other people's code OR spend literally days resizing pictures OR just junk the skin and get something new.

I've been a very big fan of this theme and the support you've given in the past but when you change code and it costs me days of work I go a little cold on it.

Any suggestions where I can start looking? I have a live site that I use to run my business. And it looks like crap because your code stopped working. Any ideas which plugins you might suddenly have started conflicting with?

1. This is javascript conflict, most likely with a plugin. deactivate them to test.

2. it's the image resizing script not working, again a javascript conflict. I do not recomend to insert too large images into the post though, it's much better to resize them in f.ex. photoshop before inserted, ore use the wordpress media sizes.

Today I upgraded to WP3 and the latest BF. I had missed a couple of releases of BF - my last version dates from Feb 2010. I now have a couple of issues. I can't say 100% whether these are WP or BF problems since I upgraded together but neither happened before the upgrade.

1. Navigation of sub items doesn't work when it's set to Standard. The list drops down like it should but vanishes when you move the mouse off the top item. This means you can't click on any sub items. I'm currently working round by using NavBar navigation but could really do with this working.

2. Some (but not all) of my posts now overflow the sidebar. These are posts that used to look OK in WP2.9 and an older version of BF. Here's one that's broken http://peoplebyryan.com/weddings/louise-and-mark-a-real-wedding-at-the-knowle. And one that works http://peoplebyryan.com/weddings/salmestone-grange-peter-and-joanna-real-wedding

Any ideas?

ETA: both faults show up on Firefox (Mac) and Safari.
