Wow, Roger. Thanks for all the effort that went into making 1.3.5.2 such a smooth transition with the new WordPress 3.0!!! My upgrade experience was flawless!

My question is about the background-image I've added to #slider-slides-container via my child theme style.css:

Is there a way to get the background image to load *before* the content of the slider? I realize that due to the cascade of things, that may require altering the parent theme. But, if there's a way to do it with the child theme, that'd be great.

The way I'm dealing with it currently is to assign a background-color that's close to the color of the background image - it's better than nothing, but still not ideal.

you can preload like this (add it to functions.php of the child theme, change the image url's, and change the is_page id):
