Ok, so I tried using BFNav child theme, however, when using Topnav the page name doesn't line up correctly and the Navigation bar gets larger. I've tried reseting everything and that didn't do anything.

Also, can you tell me how to remove the search bar.

set it up like instructed in readme.txt that comes with the child theme. Here's an example how it looks when it's set up like that: http://www.vfxdude.com/blog2/blog/

To remove the search, remove the searchcontainer div in functions.php.

Looks like I have an extra

<div class="clear"/>

And I don't know why.

How do I get rid of this?

you are right. you can remove it from theme-functions.php (in library/functions) line 192. This is removed in the version I'm using, and forgot about it.
