We run a community magazin project with more than 1000 members. There is a news wordpress which is called buddypress (http://buddypress.org/). The idea is fantastic... combine the power of wordpress and make it facebook-like! Awesome!
Question: is it somehow possible to combine this theme with buddypress???
If this would be a custom job, we would be more than happy to hire you vxdude.

I tested buddypress by installing and activating the plugin and using the bp template pack which should add buddypress to the existing template.
honestly the result was not really convincing. It would require tweaking which is ok but i don't wan't to mess up the perfect code of bigfeature.
vfxdude, if you should consider working something out for buddypress, as this will become a major feature of wp, I would highly appreciate it. If it requires heavy extra coding, then let me know and we could settle it for a custom coding job.

I have not looked at this yet, but I have a feeling a great deal of recoding is necessary for the theme to be compatible with BuddyPress. There is a free theme available with this integration, it might be better to create a child theme on top of that one.
Just looked at the code of bigfeature and the steps needed to implement buddypress functionallity. No way to do that in decent time without understanding in detail how your theme is built. I really don't want to mess with your code and honestly have no idea how to built a child theme without destroying your super flexible code.
Maybe you could create a child theme and sell it in parallel to bigfeature. As Buddypress is currently THE topic in the WP community and there are no good themes (e.g. themeforest list none) this would be a huge advantage and even enlarge the already big bigfeature community. I would definitly spend some bucks on a nice integrated buddypress child theme.
I updated WP to 3.0, updated BF to latest release and installed Buddypress plugin... Wordpress crash completely, the website does no even respond. I have to access to the installation though FTP and rename de buddypress folder for WP to work again normally.
¿Can buddypress and Big Feature live together on the same WP installation?
The easiest thing to do is integrate the free theme into Big Feature. It might be a bit unreasonable to ask him to make a child theme for the current price of the theme.

can you explain a bit more how you did it ?
You said you integrated a free theme into Big Feature. (its a bit confusing , as Big Feature is itself a theme).
Did you mean you used a Free buddypress theme and incorporated Big Feature classes in it ?
Also the Pop in on the top is cool. Will be great if you share how you did it.
