custom write panel for meta-box

I want to build an easy custom wirte panel which is just below the default write panel (like the custom for bigfeature).
As we review games, we would like to to include a "info-box" in the single.php with the boxart (picture) and some infos (like publisher etc.). I know this can be done via custom fields but believe me, that our author-team has really a hard time using those fields. A nice form would be highly appreciated.

Is there a an easy tutorial how to build one or a (easy-on-loadtime) plugin?

thank you for the plugin hint. but this plugin was last updated in 2007 and seems to be broken.

Is it possible to extend your meta box function in the liabary with additional fields? I would do so via the childtheme function.php.

The custom write panel are not stable or outdated. As I "only" need a picture upload and some meta-text fields, a meta box function would be much more convenient.

It's possible to add more fields by editing the metabox.php (in library/functions). Just add to the array at the top. It's not possible to extend it from a child theme, but it's an idea to make this possible though.
