I need more customization options for choice of featured posts widget, so thought I add invisible category "featured" and that way custom posts can be shown there. Using category visibility plugin I have unchecked all visibility options. Result: widget shows nothing, but the only place my virtual category shows up is post meta.

My idea is basicly to have custom featured posts shown through this widget. Ideally choosable without full admin rights. Is this possible?

Yeah, I am not a coder. Such tweaks would be not difficult using wp tags and less sophisticated themes. Yours is quite tricky and if possible, I prefer to not change your initial files, otherwise there will be a big mess after following updates... Number of available plugins do not work properly with BF. I still need smoothly working site and ability to upgrade. That`s the reason why there are so many questions :)

not sure I understand the functionality you want here, but you can use tags instead of a category with the featured posts widget...
