Hi!
I tried using firebug but still can't figure it out - what are the CSS tags for the colors of the navigation bar text, and the child menu color text?
Right now, it's showing dark grey bar, with light grey text, and the menu is white with grey text. I don't know the css style tags that modifies it, or if it's even possible since it's cufont generated.
I'm using the bfnav child theme.

Just came across this post and I think i can help you with it(I am not super expert with css though).
You need to try writing new styles for these 2 classes.
.sf-menu li li { }
ul.navigation.sf-menu li li a { }
(the trick is , it isnt easy to track the styles of objects that gets visible when certain action is applied by user. So mostly , what you can do is track the parent item and check its hierarchy using firebug.)
these both are defined in style file of bigfeature theme , but you should write new styles in child theme.
Being them cufon generated wont make any difference as cufon is a JS that plays with fonts AFTER they get styled.(as far as I think)
I hope admin wouldnt mind me helping as I know he is busy final touching the next version of BF.
Thanks for the response! I'm still not quite sure if I understand. So if I simply want the text to be black, I put this in my childtheme's css?
ul.navigation.sf-menu li li a { color: #000000; }
