Ive noticed some fairly popular plugins like supercache just do not work well with this theme which is a little bothersome are there any plans to make it more compatible and also do you know if this will work with the wp-e commerce shopping cart plugin? I have another client I'd like to use this theme on but I don't want to purchase another copy if I'm not able to use it for him.

to make it 100% compatible it has to be just like the default theme. The theme got the hooks and filters for most of the plugins to work. I have adjusted the code several times to make it compatible with specific plugins. The problems can be functions names, scripts, styling and so on. I can't be testing all plugins, but can test plugins if requested, if I have time.
I use hyper cache instead of superchache with the theme, might not be so advanced, but it works great. I don't have time to look into supercache now.
and I have not tested the wp-e commerce shopping cart plugin. Would be great if you could investigate the incompatibility issues, then I might fix it sooner.

Thanks for the response. Thus far it seems to be working with wp-e commerce. Supercache and db cache reloaded are two highly used plugins. Ive never heard of hyper cache but I'll give it a try. I think most people use supercache and db cache because there is time proven code and the developers stay on top of it.

tested WP Super Cache with the theme today. and it works for me, just as well as Hyper Cache. A tip is to enable the "Cache the settings stylesheet" in the theme settings, then the fetching of the stylesheet for the theme settings will be cached too.

no point to use more than one. W3 Total Cache is another caching plugin you might consider. Just test them and choose the one you like the best. More info.
