   I'm having problems getting the theme to work. Apologies if I'm a little clueless, I'm very new to Wordpress, so it's possible I'm missing something obvious.

   OK, so I bought the theme, and then installed it using the wordpress themes installer. I haven't installed any plug-ins, just the bigfeature.zip.
   Straight away something looked odd, because when I went to activate the theme, it didn't look right. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like after it's been activated.

   

   The actual blog page looks like this:

   

   I logged onto the server where the blog is hosted, went to wp-content/themes, and there was the BigFeature theme, with all the files/folders correctly uploaded

   

   When I go to the Editor in the Appearance tab, the CSS is all there (I haven't changed anything)

   

   So I'm not sure what it is that I'm doing wrong for the theme to not activate properly.
   I really love the theme, and it's the main reason that I switched to a server based wordpress rather than using the blog on the wordpress.com site.

   I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

   looking at the screenshots it looks like you installed it correctly. The url seems a little weird...there's a colon there and no port number (should be a port number after the colon).

   Looking at the website, I can see there is a file rights problem. Getting this error message in style.css:

   "You don't have permission to access /blog/wp-content/themes/bigfeature/style.css
   on this server."

   acessing style.css directly (without the colon) gives the same message. See here.

   Could be that installing the theme with the wordpress installer messes up the file rights. Try uploading the theme with a ftp client. Delete the theme first, then unzip bigfeature.zip, and then upload the bigfeature folder (make sure it's not a bigfeature folder underneath that one) to the /blog/wp-content/themes/ folder on the server.
